Roos Nieboer

wpZimmer resident in 2020

Roos Nieboer graduated from LUCA School of Arts in 2019 in the field of Free Arts. She often works with performance, text and textiles in which themes such as public space, social interaction and ‘the normal’ versus ‘the absurd’ play an important role.

Filling in a test to find out what you think of a building, developing a prototype to write a letter to your grandmother or a voice over that tells you how best to move through a crowd unnoticed, all ways in which Roos Nieboer tries to get a grip on reality in her work. The work takes place at the interface of art and society, with the question of where art is situated. By playing with the loose associations between word, image and meaning, she stimulates the imagination of her viewers.

Panic & Other Attacks

In Panic & other Attacks Dounia is looking for recipes that can save us in difficult situations. In her own jumpy-moving way, she thinks about the question: what to do? What to do if you end up in a snow avalanche? What to do if you are attacked by a polar bear? And is that the right question?
Isn’t the question rather : what to do so that we have to stay on our guard against the attack of a polar bear?
